IFDA International Silver Sponsor Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams showroom is directly across the street from Orlean in the Miami Design District. Members Vicki Kirsner and Marsha Koch couldn’t wait to tour the beautiful two story furniture gallery.
Founded in 1989 by Mitchell Gold and Bob Willams, their products which include furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories are designed for comfort and style. They are manufactured in their own state of the art facility in North Carolina which includes a day care center for the children of their employees and the community. They even offer a college scholarship program, gym and more. They design and manufacture with “environmentally intelligent decisions”. That tells us alot about Mitchell and Bob.
Their books on interior design describe their philosphy…”When a home is successfully furnished, just walking in the door is like getting a hug.” Though they weren’t there that day to sign our books, General Manager, Joanne Amend did give us a copy of their wonderful book The Comfortable Home and a complete catalogue as well as a tour of the showroom.
Joanne, center, was so welcoming (seen above with Vicki Kirsner on the left and Carla Blanca seated on the right). She was delighted to know more about IFDA. We discussed plans for an event in the near future and learned they love to have parties such as a recent event featuring wine and chocolate!
Enjoy a tour of their showroom below. We learned that each setting is personally styled by Mitchell and Bob so that all their showrooms are consistent and you can see how they envisioned their pieces working together.
The color pallet is mostly neurtal but the mix of textures and organic touches like this cocktail table and accessories makes the look far from boring.

One last word, posted on the wall in their showroom is a list of all the things Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams believe in, not the least of which is “We love dogs.” Some of you may recognize their sweet Lulu who appeared in many of their ads. “She instinctively understood comfort and watching her go through her day looking for what made her feel good was a big influence” on their designs.
